Drive type
Do you need a ready-to-drive unit or components only?
Drive types include screw, rack & pinion, belt drives and linear motors. Each drive type has pros and cons, giving them strengths in different areas of use.
Payload
Make sure the load capacity meets or exceeds the required payload weight.
High payload guides are subjected to significant wear and stress due to the heavy loads they handle and must therefore have a high level of durabili
Duty
Consider the required duty cycle – will it be continuous or periodic operation?
High duty cycles are likely to require a larger system size to withstand the number of cycles without significant wear-related issues.
Speed
What is the required speed?
The guide must be able to handle the desired velocity, minimise friction and maintain precision during rapid motion. Hepco Motion’s V guide systems can operate up to 10 m/s.
Environment
Will there be extreme temperatures, moisture or exposure to corrosive agents? If so, a stainless steel linear guide may be needed.
Lots of dirt and dust? You’ll need a resilient, self-cleaning guide.
