Staffan Franzén, CEO at Mekanex, reflects on the present and thinks about what 2025 might offer. As usual, there are both positive and negative external factors, which makes it difficult to predict the future. We all know that who are currently trying to get the budget together for the new year. In the end, it comes down to the classic question: Is the glass half empty or half full?

Time goes fast

Christmas is approaching, and another new year will start very soon. It feels like it wasn’t long ago that I summed up 2023 and looked ahead to 2024. Sometimes it can almost feel unreal, and you wonder: where does the time go? But as we all know; time is the only thing we have equal. It’s about how we manage it – what we choose to prioritize and what we choose to remove from our “to-do-list”.

The past year

2024 has overall been a good year for Mekanex. We have continued to deliver quality products to the industry in the Nordics and the Baltics, with – in the vast majority of cases – very satisfied customers. Supply challenges have improved over the year, although some suppliers still have problems with their supply chains. We do our utmost to ensure that you, our customers are not affected, but sometimes delays have been unavoidable. Our goal is then to always be proactive, maintain a close dialogue and help resolve the situation in the best possible way.

In terms of business, 2024 has been a year where external factors still affected us – more so in Finland and the Baltics than in Sweden. No matter what the situation in the world looks like, we will continue to offer high-quality products and competent advice to our customers, something we have done since 1961 in Sweden, 1985 in Finland and since 2005 in Estonia. Thank you for turning to us for advice, support and discussions about exciting technical projects. We see this as a proof of that you are satisfied with what we deliver!

What awaits in 2025?

What 2025 has to offer is written in the stars, but we know we live in a turbulent and uncertain time. Tragically, the war is still going on in Europe, where Ukraine is fighting heroically for its right to self-determination and democracy. At the same time, we see two large EU countries in government crisis, and a new president in the USA is preparing to take office – a president who is already threatening with trade tariffs, which could affect world trade and of course also us in Sweden, Finland and the Baltics who depend on our exports.

But there are also positive signals. In both Sweden, Finland and Estonia, the economy has stabilized and interest rates are on the way down. The countries’ GDP and industrial production are expected to increase, and work on the green transition in the industry continues. Although the transition can feel challenging, it is necessary and places new demands on both companies and employees.

Last newsletter of 2024

In this last newsletter of the year, you can read more about gear transmissions – stay tuned and feel free to contact us if you want to know more about gears or our other products!

During the Christmas and New Year holidays, we are closed during week 52 (December 23-27). We are also closed on New Years Eve and New Years Day. Other weekdays we stay open as usual, but with somewhat limited capacity. Our central warehouse in Sweden is also closed week 52 (December 23-27), which means that after December 20 we have limited possibilities to deliver goods before the year end. Our website is of course open 24 hours a day, and you can always email us at info@mekanex.ee – we will take care of your inquiry or order as soon as we are back in the office.

Finally, together with all the employees at Mekanex in Sweden, Finland and Estonia, I would like to wish you a Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year!

See you again in 2025!
