What kind of bevel gear should you choose?

Bevel gears are used, as the name suggests, to angle a power in transmission. The most common is that the angle is 90 degrees, but other angles also occur. It is also most common that there is no reduction ratio in a bevel gear, in other words, the ratio is 1:1. Other ratios are available, such as 2:1, 3:1 or 4:1. Here we offer a small overview of our wide range of bevel gears.

First-class angle gears for many needs

Mekanex offers an extensive series of bevel gears with shaft diameters from 6 to 60 millimeters and transferable torques up to 2400 Nm. Our bevel gears are designed to cope with different ratios and operating conditions, with a transferable power of up to approximately 37.5 kW, depending on operating conditions and ambient temperature.

Versatility in material selection

Our bevel gears are available in different materials to suit different environments and applications. The gearboxes can be manufactured in aluminium, steel or stainless steel and can also be painted for extra corrosion protection. We also offer shafts in both plain steel and stainless steel as well as various seals to ensure optimal performance for most environments and applications.

Explore our affordable bevel gears Type Z

The Mekanex Type Z series offers robust, high quality standard bevel gears at very competitive prices. These Italian-made gears are available in various designs and sizes, with the possibility of fast deliveries thanks to our extensive stocking of the most common variants.

The angle gears type Z are available in five sizes from 5 to 100 Nm. Ratios are available as 1:1, 2:1 and 3:1. The gears can handle input speeds up to 3000 rpm, and are available in versions with both hollow shaft and solid shaft. They are available with one, two or three output shafts. The housing is cast in an aluminum alloy and has up to six mounting points. As standard, there is also a version with a stainless-steel housing.

The gears inside the gearboxes are spiral cut for quiet operation and high strength. The gears are made of nickel chrome steel with surface-hardened teeth. The wheels are fitted with tolerances to ensure gear engagement, quiet operation and long life. On request, the backlash can be reduced to 5 arc minutes. The axles are made of steel with a corrosion-resistant surface treatment. Stainless steel shafts are also available as an option. As standard, the axles are supplied with keyways according to the ISO standard.

On request, the bearing can be offered as tapered rollers or bearings with preload. Gaskets and sealing rings are fitted on all models. Special sealing rings for high and low temperatures are available on request. Silicon rings are used in the stainless version. The gears are delivered with lubricant. Size 1 is filled with fat for life; other sizes are oil-filled. For specific applications, special oils and greases are available.

Mekanex stocks the most common variants of the Z gears to ensure fast delivery, normally within 24 hours.
